Since its founding in 1987, the Kentucky Science & Technology Corporation (KSTC) has been a pioneering force in driving science, technology, and innovative economic development throughout Kentucky.
We envision a future where Kentucky is recognized as a national and international leader, ranks among the top half of states in innovation-driven economic development, and where KSTC is recognized among its peers as setting the benchmark for others to follow. With this vision in mind, our mission is clear: We cultivate knowledge, talent, and innovation to propel the state's growth and competitiveness on a national and global scale.
Keyhorse Capital, an initiative of KSTC, manages early-stage venture funds that support Kentucky-based startups with critical early capital and strategic resources. Over the past 20 years, we’ve invested over $80 million in 280+ companies and continue to back a dynamic portfolio of 150+ startups. We go beyond funding—partnering with founders, investors, and institutions to help companies scale. As we expand our platform, we’re focused on reducing friction in the investment process to make capital more accessible.
The Venture Capital Internship at Keyhorse Capital is a high-growth, hands-on opportunity to gain direct exposure to early-stage investing, startups, and innovation. Interns will support active deal flow, portfolio companies, and ecosystem initiatives while working directly with the investment team. The role is best suited for students or early-career professionals eager to break into venture capital and entrepreneurship, with Kentucky-based candidates strongly preferred.
